We have chosen to have my hubby's big birthday celebration at Louise & Phil's restaurant on our skiing trip this February. Having previously stayed at the hotel and enjoyed our food there, it was a great choice in a quite location. We opted for the house speciality 'Potence' which came with an impressive presentation by Louise. Phil’s wine recommendations were spot on. The food was really delicious – everyone absolutely loved it. At the end we had a birthday cake with candles that Louise made herself. It was so nice that I have asked for a recipe and will try and make it at home. We are so grateful to the owners for making such an effort and making this celebration so special for us. They ha...
Staying just up the road we chose to eat here Christmas Eve and would highly recommend it. As a party of ten, we had a variety of dishes including the house speciality 'Potence' which was quite a spectacle! Unfortunately my steak although delicious, was a little more under-done than I could eat and I requested for it to be cooked a little longer, they did more than this, cooking me a whole new meal with the chef personally apologising. We couldn't fault the service we received, including the firework and birthday wishes for my nephew who was celebrating his 17th birthday. A thoroughly enjoyable evening at a good price too.
We visited this restaurtant twice during a 9 night stay and were very impressed by the quality and variety cooked by Louise and presented by her husband, Phil.There were six in our party on each visit so we tried and thoroughly enjoyed a wide range of the food on offer ranging from the local speciality tartoflette through to turkish meatballs and cajun chicken. Those who tried it said the perch was especially delicious.The outside terrace affords stunning views over the valley below so it's worth having a drink even if you don't want to eat.
A great restaurant in Verchaix, stunning views from the terrace of the valley and mountains. Due to COVID restrictions and our hosts’ relaxed style, we were the only guests (4 of us) of an evening in the peak of the summer season, but this felt very special and not at all weird! The food was absolutely delicious, the Rioja spot on and the service just right friendly and intimate without being too ‘in your face’! Good value too we thought. We will return!
On sunday july 5th 2014 we had a very pleasant evening in La Terrasse de Verchaix. First sitting on the terras with a wonderfull view, later inside the restaurant, we enjoyed a very good diner. Very good cooking with vegetables from the garden of the restaurant en and a relaxed host and hostess, our familyevening was a succes. Try it yourself!!Johan and Janneke Koornstra
We have been visiting La Terrasse for years and it always a treat delicious dishes, much of it home grown, in gorgeous surroundings and fantastic hosting by Phil and Louise. On our latest trip, they adjusted a few dishes to suit my intolerances (this is rare in my experience in France! and were so accommodating with our very active little boys. A hidden gem.
