Dined at Cafe Bovo on my first night in Marseille as it is located just behind the port and pretty easy to find and the menu looked interesting from their website. Staff were nice and explained the menu concept so shared the burrata to start,...this came in cold tomato soup like gazpacho) and decorated with pesto, it was quite nice but a little difficult to share, delicious crispy bread though. Mains of veal liver was served with endive and veggie puree and it was delicious, it looked pretty and very creative. My husband and I came here for lunch after reading previous reviews regarding gluten free options. We were welcomed by Noa who explained the menu to us (in her amazing English). My husband and I shared our starter, a local dish made from chickpea flour,...we both then had the duck with a parsnip purée followed by a coffee and small dessert of chocolate mousse and creme caramel, accompanied by a carafe of red wine. The whole meal was amazing, each dish really flavoursome. The waitresses were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended, our best meal so far on our holiday.
we stopped for lunch and it was completely empty. the staff were friendly, welcome (and spoke great English). they offered us to go through the (French) menu, but we managed to find it on our own faust. Eating is really great. it is a relatiw small menu, but the choices are large French cuisine. the wine list is also very beautiful. as many others have noticed, this is a jewel of a place. in any case, would come back if we were back in marseille.
we have searched for a place to eat lunch while in marseille and found cafe bovo on tripadvisor. we arrived directly when the opened and got a beautiful sidewalk table and continued to have an amazing meal with wonderful and attentive service....Size wise to celebrate our 20-year-old high-time day.
