Cafe Brasserie Le Palace

I ate here with my parents and my two children. The menu typical of most cafes in France (steak frites, a couple of pasta dishes, salad, etc.) and the food simple. We were served promptly and politely and the food came pretty fast, which was helpful with two small, hungry and impatient children to feed! It's a great location and definitely popular with the locals. Also in it's favour, it was one of the only places open on the day we were in Quillan, which also happened to be a public holiday. A nice place for drinks or a light lunch/evening meal.My only gripe would be the lack of high chairs for small children. That seems to be typical of many eateries in France, at least in my experience so...

This has quickly become my favourite place in Quillan, where I spent a lot of days/evenings over the last two weeks soaking up the atmosphere (and when it arrived, sun)! Le Palace is definitely the best situated restaurant/cafe-bar, overlooking both the river and the main square, where all the entertainment happens. The waiting staff are always friendly, and recognise you if you are a returning patron. We often just had drinks, but did also have a late-lunch/early-dinner one day, and it was easily the best steak-haché, frites and salad that I had over the entire holiday. Wonderful. We arrived at around 8.30pm on an admittedly busy Sunday evening to be rudely told that we had no option to see a menu or order any drinks. We were told by the apparent manager that it would be an hour wait, with no apology or offer to take drinks orders whilst waiting. We were refused the option of ordering food and our 2nd waiter was told to serve 2 other tables, who arrived after we were seated, before us. They were more than happy to take our money and tips the previous evening when it was empty so I was appalled at this level of customer service (because we're tourists?). We are still gobsmacked!

Summary: market square (tick), riverside (tick), sunshine and fountain (tick)This place is all about the setting. Just adjacent to the market square, seating arranged I. Various tiers with a running water fountain and the river rolling by.We popped there for and early evening drink and light bite. I thought this place was much improved since I last visited 3 years ago. They have a pleasant outside space to sit and have a drink overlooking the river and serve good quality basic brasserie food which is ideal for lunch. The proprietor works hard to make sure everyone is welcome and looked after. Personally I find the interior a bit dark and dismal but it can be cold and dank off season here. Clean loos but no soap!

On a sunny day you'll find this place packed and it's equally popular when we've popped there throughout the season - so it's not just the view that's the winner here!All the dishes we have had have been great ranging from steak and chips, curry and asian noodle dishes to salads. Generous portions, well priced house wine and friendly efficient service. I would highly recommend if you're visiting the town.

This was a fantastic place to eat as a family. We were regulars here during our stay in Quillan. It was a lovely spot to watch the world go by. The staff were friendly, and the food was always good. Even our teenage children enjoyed it!!

Riverside cafe with a view of the old chateau. Everything I have eaten there over the past few summers is great, especially the fries. They are very busy in the summer, so plan on enjoying the ambience while you wait! Reserva una mesa ahora

The lunch was simple but ok. The service good, but this place is all about the location next to the old pont and the river. We really had a nice time here

Very nic3 bar/restaurant and nice staff good prices for coffee, wine and beers In general also very nice view of the river and du Pont
