Horrible service and very rude staff!!! We tried to have a drink here twice, because of the nice terrace. A few days ago we were sent away because it was ‘not possible’ for us to sit at a table of four with four people (we were told that it would be too crowded). A few moments later we saw another group of four taking place at the same table… Today we tried to have a drink here once again to give the place another shot. And AGAIN we were sent away by the same lady (wearing black). We were not allowed to sit outside and have drink (we were told that the terrace was only for food). Next to us many tables were just having a drink. Don’t bother going here if you’re not French!
I can only report what I see. Twice we go to this place for a pre-dinner drink around 18:00. Both times, we are served promptly, the drinks are nice, the service professional. One waiter takes the time to take a photo of some customers despite being busy. We are happy. Yes, one waiter explains quite brusquely to customers sitting in the seats belonging to the closed cafe next door that they need to move, another that two customers may not sit at a table for four being set up for dinner but this only reasonable, it is a business after all. Oh, and we were clearly foreigners with limited French.
Very unfriendly staff (lady in black clothes). We were ignored/forgotten several times without any form of apology. Her vocabulary seems to exist only of single words when she’s addressing foreigners (even in French). If you’re not French, don’t go here. To anyone reading these reviews (as we should have done before coming here), take note of the aggressive and non-constructive responses of the owner to any negative review. A clear red flag.
I have been visiting here for 10 years and I always enjoy the experience. The staff have always been helpful every visit and it’s always been hard to get a table on market day, but it’s worth the wait. If you don’t want to wait I can guarantee there will be a spare table at the cafes to both sides of the. Cafe de France- but just wait !
