Aprés une première expérience trés positive, nous avons réservé pour 7 personnes pour un dimanche 13h30.A nôtre arrivée (à l'heure), la moitié de nôtre table avec nôtre nom dessus avait été attribuée à 4 personnes qui commençait tout juste leur plat.Du coup, les 2 serveuses ont du composer une autre disposition en nous mettant à la limite ombre/soleil, alors que nous préférions largement être à l'ombre, mais pas moyen faire autrement car pas de place ailleurs.Bon...Aprés la prise de commande; nous avons dû attendre un bon moment, mais comme c'était encore le coup de feu, nous avons fait preuve de patience; Jusqu'au moment où on s'aperçoit qu'une table largement arrivée aprés nous se fait ser...
We visited this restaurant several times during our most recent visit to this area. We had a couple of lunches (one on Sunday) and dinner so I think i can give a well informed report about it. Having read some of the other reports I...find it difficult to believe they are talking about the same place. The food is what you would expect in a small bar/restaurant at the side of a square in a small village. The food is tasty has fresh ingredients is reasonably priced and there is plenty of it. The plat de jour is what's available fresh on that day as you would expect. The staff were pleasant and efficient on what was a busy period. I will go there again and would recommend people to try it.
We dined at Cafe de la Place twice and enjoyed both lunchtime and Thursday evening. Thursday evenings are particularly worth it as There is a food market in Octon on Thursday evenings and you can look across at the stalls it was busy...but we got a table okay they have extra fold down tables. A friendly welcome in this lovely little cafe in the square. The table d'hote menu only had a couple of choices but the effects steak with frites, salad and vegetables was very good. They brought a lovely Roquefort sauce in a separate dish and a...nice salad with Roquefort, parmesan and walnuts. Lovely staff and you can sit either inside or out.

If you have the pleasure of visiting Octon make sure you visit Cafe de la Place. It's not big it's not posh it's a typical French village bar/ restaurant. Good welcome, good service, good food. A very pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Woul highly recommend and will...be back every time I'm in the area.
On a passé de supers moments au café de la place !l'équipe nous accueillait comme les habitués toujours présents pour discuter et passer un bon moment : c'est bon signe! On y a d'ailleurs pris nos habitudes ! Merci à tous ! Les prix sont corrects et les produits de qualité. On s'est régalés.
Very friendly service! Nice and quiet place. I ate one of the best pizzas ever! They aren't vegetarian but you can ask to personalize your pizza. The vegetarian dish was also very good. They only use local products and biologically cultivated products.

Very busy and lovely place to have lunch. Very friendly staff. Good value. Well worth a visit. Avery pretty village on the banks on L Herault.
