Im Gewölbekeller des Schlosses Friedrichstein befindet sich das kleine Café. Es gibt nur wenige Tische. Bei gutem Wetter kann man an Tischen im Schlosshof sitzen. Noch besser allerdings sitzt man auf der Aussichtsterrasse. Von hier hat man einen wunderbaren Blick auf die Stadt Bad Wildungen und die Umgebung. Allein deswegen lohnt sich schon der Weg nach Alt Wildungen. Im Café wird man sehr freundlich bedient und bekommt guten hausgemachten Kuchen. Sollte es einem langweilig werden, kann man in den ausliegenden Gartenzeitschriften oder in Büchern blättern. Es gibt auch allerlei an Dekoartikeln zu kaufen. Geöffnet ist das Café Mittwoch bis Sonntag von 10-17Uhr. Auf dem Weg zur großen Aussichtsterrasse kann man einen Blick in den blauen Saal werfen und im Obergeschoss den Ballsaal mit den schönen Malereien bewundern. In beiden Sälen kann man stilvoll feiern. 1663 ließ Graf Josias II von Waldeck das Schloss erbauen. Er fiel im Krieg gegen die Osmanen auf Kreta. Im angrenzenden Museum wird die "Türkenbeute" ausgestellt. Star unter den Ausstellungsstücken ist das reichverzierte Türkenzelt, das vor wenigen Jahren komplett restauriert wurde. Sehenswert ist auch das Lapidarium.Es ist möglich, dass Schneewittchen im Schloss gelebt haben könnte. Margarethe, Schwester des Grafen Samuel von Waldeck, starb mit nur 21 Jahren an Gift. Sie könnte den Gebrüdern Grimm als Vorbild für Schneewittchen gedient haben. Um zu den Zwergen hinter den sieben Bergen zu gelangen, brauchte sie nicht sehr weit zu gehen. Nur bis Bergfreiheit, wo die Zwerge lebten. Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte.Besuchen Sie Schloss Friedrichstein und die schöne Stadt Bad Wildungen. Wer mit dem Auto kommt, kann unterhalb des Schlosses parken. Ein kurzer Weg führt zum Schloss. Besser keine Stilettos anziehen. Ein sehr schöner Wanderweg führt vom ehemaligen Gartenschaugelände am Fuß des Schlosses bergan. Skulpturen säumen den Weg. Belohnt wird man mit schönen Aussichten.
