It is a pastry shop in the middle of the city square.The location is excellent to sit outside but the seats are so few that one has to be lucky to find a spot. The interior is very dark and some lights might be useful to align with the cheerful exterior. They have a lot of variety of cakes which are on display in the shop. One has to order at the cake counter and then the food is brought to the table. I ordered Sachertorte and tea. The Assam tea that I ordered was good quality. When I went to order my cake, there was some kind of bumblebees or bees perhaps roaming inside the cake shelves. I pointed out to the lady there but she did not seem much bothered about it.
My cousin who lives in Traben, brought us here for a afternoon treat. What a fantastic pastry shop. It was very busy, with people coming in and out, but we were able to grab a table of someone who was leaving. The waitress was super friendly and was zipping everywhere. What you do is go to the counter and pick out what torte you want, you get a number, and the waitress brings it to your table. There are so many wonderful looking desserts to pick, it was hard. We ordered coffee and cocoa as well, it was a perfect pause on a rainy cold day in October.
Probably the best dessert destination in Bernkastel Kues. We enjoyed the great taste and the beautiful presentation of their products. We ordered in the café and ate the fantastic treats in the square after checking our immunization status and negative fast test in less than 24 h. All that was needed at the moment was worth it and rewarded with great culinary experience. We enjoyed every bite. The service was just OK.
Cafe Hansen is the place to go for large local pastries and candy, plus wonderful coffee. During the morning you can sit inside and enjoy the atmosphere, and in the afternoon there is table service outside the marketplace. Cafe Hansen has also made chocolate bars on site and other big candies to take home.
