As in 2014 (see my review then), I was very pleased with my visits to Bernold. It's strategically located in the heart of the (small) city of Villach, with ample parking facilities nearby, and - not unimportantly! - the tourist information service opposite the street. The café has in fact 2 parts, one a bit larger with 2 stocks (the upper one for smokers), and a small coffee shop proper; both offer excellent views on the Drau river. The bakery cum chocolaterie is Bernold's strongest point, but their coffee is fine as well. A place worth a detour!
I was visiting Villach for the first time and I wanted to taste a Sachertorte. As soon as I saw this place I was sure to find what I was looking for: it looked like a very furnished patisserie. However, when I got inside, I did not find such a big choice and I did not find this local dish, so I went out. I do not know if it was just an unlucky conjuncture, but I think that a patisserie of such level must have a typical dish.
La pasticceria è molto grande, in quanto dispone di una sala al pian terreno, una al piano superiore con vista sulla città ⛲ e una terrazza esterna direttamente sul fiume Drava. Anche se era domenica la vetrina della pasticceria era fornita di una grande quantità di torte, paste e biscotti. Torta molto buona !!! Il personale però un po' frettoloso e non molto attento !!!!
Es gibt alles was man sich von einem Cafe erwartet und das in sehr guter Ausführung. Im oberen Stockwerk hat man auch einen schönen Ausblick auf die Drau. Es ist aber nicht für große Gruppen geeignet, weil die Tische dafür etwas zu klein sind und man sie auch nicht verschieben kann.

Il posto è carino caldo.. Fuori ci sono -10 gradi.. Ordinato 1 cioccolata senza panna 1 cappuccino 1 pasta.. Costo 9,30... Non discuto sul prezzo anche se caro.. La cioccolata faceva veramente pena.. Acqua sporca.. Da scartare assolutamente
das eis ist hier sehr lecker-auch die torten und der kaffee - meist nette bedienung-es ist sehr gemütlich und es hat zwei eingänge-draussen hat man hinten herrlichen draublick !
Het is een heerlijke plek om even te genieten van een Aperol, koffie of ijsje. Het is mooi gelegen aan de Drau. Vlakbij de VVV en in het centrum van Villach.
Italian ice cream outside Italy ... it is always a challenge. The ice cream at Bernold is just like the ice cream in the Netherlands. Quickly forgotten.

Die Terrasse auf der Südseite ist sehr ruhig. Mit der Nachmittagssonne kann man diesehr gute Apfel Mohn Torte mit einem Espresso genießen.
