Myself and my wife have been here on three occasions this week while on holidays. It is a lovely cafe to spend time relaxing after an exhausting days skiing. The pastries, cakes and ice-creams are delicious and I am sure the majority of people also enjoy the coffee's too. Unfortunately, my wife and I are difficult to please when it comes to our cappuccinos. We like extremely weak coffee - as in as near as possible to a small table spoon of coffee in our Cappuccino - I know, that's not coffee to most people - but it's how we like it, and we cannot drink normal strength cappuccinos. Trying to explain this is hard enough in our own country, but really difficult in a foreign land when we do not speak the language. We however were delighted on our first visit here, as the waitress managed to make us our perfect Cappuccino - it can be done if they are willing. Today's visit was a different affair though - the waitress understood our request for a very weak coffee, as we explained in detail how we like it made, but she said the machine only delivers it one way, so did we want it that way or not - in a fairly friendly but matter of fact tone. Not wanting to cause a scene we said we would try it. Unfortunately as we expected - to our taste it was terribly strong and we could not drink it. I also ordered an ice-cream which was delicious. We do understand the problems our coffee requests cause (being well used to the results,) but we also believe that customer service should not mean being inflexible, and that as we did receive a positive result a few days ago in the same Cafe, it should not be unreasonable to hope for a repeat performance this time. To us, customer service means listening to your customers and at least trying to meet their expectations or requests. It's easy to perform to a normal level if you insist on giving all your customers the same product - but in my opinion you get your business referred in a better way if you are willing to try meet customers requests - and this is usually a management and staff training function. In this case we paid for our drinks - even though we could not drink them - left a tip, and we head home tomorrow disappointed that out final coffee break of the week did not live up to our expectations.
