Café Neumart is located on one of the back streets off Niederdorf. The closest public transit stop is Nuemart and accessible with Tram #3 or Bus 31. It’s a quiet place with a very large selection of newspapers and magazines. The interior has lots of padded chairs and half booths and there is marble around the restaurant. There is even an inner courtyard terrace seating area.A sign is posted outside of the café advertising a sandwich with house-made bread and a soda for 9CHF. There are several options of meat with or without cheese (included) and available all day. Upon entering, I, specifically, asked the young female waitress if this offer was only for take away (the sign did not state) or if it was good inside as well and she stated it is also good for dine-in. The atmosphere was a relaxed, no-stress environment and they also offer free, secured Wi-Fi.I ordered the ham and cheese which came with pickle, tomato, and egg and of course the soda. While dining and reading several of the newspapers, I observed my waitress leave for the day. After having a nice visit and now ready to pay my bill, another waitress brought out my bill and it was for 10.90CHF. I paid the bill, with a nice tip, and as I was leaving inquired with my new waitress as to why the price difference between the sign posted 9CHF vs the receipt of 10.90CHF. The waitress stated the 9CHF price is for take-out only. The café was clean, the restrooms were clean and I was very well ready to give them a very favorable rating until they charged a higher price than stated on the sidewalk and also what my first waitress had stated. So, enjoy the nice tip but I will not return to your business nor will I recommend it to others.
