There haven't been many places that I've come across that have truly impressed me in the way that Cafe Silvium did tonight. But this place will forever be at the top of my list of best places ever in every aspect of one of the truly greatest restaurants I've ever been to. My family and I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Cafe Silvium recently, and what should have been a celebratory Mother 's Day meal turned into a nightmare. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with utter disrespect and rudeness by the staff. Despite having made a reservation for four people, we were led to a table set for six. Understanding that the restaurant was busy, we politely offered to wait for a smaller table to be set up to accommodate others waiting. Instead of addressing our request professionally, the waiter became visibly agitated, accusing us of lying about our reservation size. What a place! Some of the best Italian we’ve ever had. Only problem is it’s so hard to get into. We gave it a shot and arrived before 6:00 and were seated within an hour. Salads, apps, pastas and entrees were all first rate. Service was a bitharried (but efficient) as they are packed. Beer and wine only, and the wine is pretty limited. But the food is incredible. Theydo have reservations during the week and for parties of 6 or more on Friday and Saturday.
We arrived without reservations and had about a 20 minutes wait which was not a problem. Had a glad of wine while waiting in a very small crowded waiting area. Been eating here for a few years now. Get here early because when they open at 5 all the tables will be gone. They will not seat you unless your party is all there. On to the food, exceptional. The dish that I get every single time is Rigatoni Gnack Gnack.Their ricotta cheesecake is a must as well.
