Cafe Tapao

We, my husband and I, come from the Black Forest. Work took us to Stade for the month of August. Since Stade is a really cute little town, we went for a stroll every day after work. Then we became aware of this little café. Small interior and large terrace. Staff totally friendly and very attentive. The owner always in a good mood and always a relaxed saying on the lips. Since we had eaten in other restaurants in Stade a few times but were very dissatisfied, we told the owner about it. One day in the evening he said he would cook something for us. He wants to convince us that it tastes good with him. Lo and behold, we didn't know what we were getting, but what we got was just awesome. As a starter prawns in garlic olive oil with baguette, each with a side salad and then for the main course champion cream schnitzel and pepper schnitzel. You could even hear the schnitzel being beaten outside on the terrace. Also, they were pan fried and not deep fried like in many gastros. For this fresh food the value for money is more than great and we would have paid even more. This gastronomy only cooks fresh and you can taste it.

Great place to sit outside (!) next to the canal & very nice atmosphere between all the old houses. We ordered the tapas platter for 3 people. All very yummy! We could not decide which wine to take, the waitress was very attentive and gave us samples. We ended up buying a bottle of red. All were very yummy and hard to decide but most important, no headache the next day! Good quality wine. Only one thing to note, the toilets smell too much after cleaning products when you enter the restaurant and there is no screen/wall to hide the (open) doors of the toilets right next to the bar. I am sure this can be resolved by the management ;) We will definitely return next time we are in beautiful Stade.

Great to sit outside on a warm day at the Fischmarkt or inside the modern decor restaurant. We couldn't decide so got the 3 person selection of a variety of tapas. It was amazing and fun to try everything. Definitely a good option and filled us up quite a bit! Will go back!

A super cafe restaurant in a wonderful location in a wonderful city. The view is incredibly beautiful. The Italian staff was also great. A place to sit in peace and joy.
