This was our first night in Nerja and ventured in as we were dead on our feet and couldn 't be bothered to fight for a table on what was a buzzing evening in town. As far as we were concerned it had food. It had cold beer. It had a free table and lovely views over the little beach and the Balcon de Europe. That was fine by us. Yes, the menu del dia did include egg and chips as a mains option, so we knew it wasn 't going to be 'locally sourced organic Michelin star cooked with passion ' kind of meal. But to be fair, the Gazpacho starter was surprisingly good, the coffee (our dessert option) was excellent, and having recently experienced the pure misery of a KFC drive-thru I think $9.90 for a three-course meal has to to be put in perspective, especially as you sit listening to the full force of the Mediterranean pounding the little town beach as you drink your cold beer and devour your chips. Would we eat there again? No. Nerja is described by everyone that knows it as foodie-central so there are much better offerings to be had. But as a first night in town sort of desperation meal, we 've paid a lot more and enjoyed a lot less over the years.
