We got a meal Deal that we bought at Premier classe for €12.90 including an alcoholic drink! We wanted something to warm the belly as we had below zero temperatures. We opted for the Thai Curry. I chose the salad bar and sis in law the deserts so we can be naughty and make it three course dinner). When the curry arrived, it looked so drab we actually Googled and showed the waiter a photo of what a Thai Curry should look like. Ours was gray and was not appealing to eat. The waiter was really ok with that and we could swap for fish and chips. These were actually really good and tasty. The dessert came cheeses choice was really good here as well. We missed out on breakfast next day as it is unt...
Well... expected better. Its an all you can eat starter so fill up with as much as you can eat, we stayed at a local budget hotel on the way South, and like others wandered in to this restaurant, we needed food. Not many people in so no atmosphere, eat pay go. Main meal options a little confusing, and a strange taste to the beef, avoid the beef I would say. Fish looked ok, although it was described as salmon, it was nothing like any salmon I know. Decided that we would find somewhere else to eat on the way back home. The starter food was the best choice and can't fault that part of the meal. Overall expensive nearly 100 Euro's for three people and we didn't have expensive drinks, in fact one...
Stayed at a nearby budget hotel and ate here as a discount was offered. After a long journey we arrived at 8:50. The staff didn't seem too pleased by our arrival time even though the restaurant isn't supposed to close until 10pm. Buffet of appetisers had very little left so was very poor value at more than 10 euro. Main course (Paupiette of Veal and fries, no veg) poorly presented, very small and poor value. By 9:30 the staff were clearing up around us and seemed keen to get rid of us. I have stayed at and eaten at Campanile hotels many times in the past but not for a few years. I doubt I'll be back unless there is no other alternative.
I have always found the menus will have something for everyone. Prices are reasonable. The location means no long walk to find a restaurant after a long days drive. This time we both opted for the salad bar and cheese dessert menu. The salad bar was fresh and a good selection. 4 types of cheese and plenty of choice of desserts, including fresh fruit. Stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights after my car broke down on the motorway travelling from San Maxine to Cherbourg. Clotilde was so kind as I was very upset. All of the staff are a credit to the hotel. I had 2 dinners and they were excellent. The room was very clean. I would certainly recommend it.
Clean with modern deco but lack charm and was noisy (Reception, plus small bar area all in same area as restaurant) Food was bland although well presented, felt more like a fast food restaurant, service matter of fact, Disappointing and not what we would expect from Campanile
