Campanile Issoudun

A limited menu, certainly nothing French about it. The pre printed colourful menus had nothing at all to excite the palate but there was a daily specials board that offered some more exciting dishes the skate wings in particular were very good considering their distance from the sea. I thought the cheese board on offer was a bit dismal with a hard (cheddar? a small piece of goat and a similarly small piece of Chaume being the entire selection and prohibitively priced. But once you have booked in they are outside of the town proper and have adaptive audience to exploit.

This Kyriad is what you can ask a hotel when you are on the way: comfort, cleanliness, a restaurant with a very good choice and good quality to not have to take the car to go to dinner, the friendliness of the boss and his staff as welcoming. Only flat: its location on a traffic axis. When we're pro, we have to get up! And in addition it has just been rebuilt with a very good bed linen and a choice of soft and firm pillows was available in my room, as well as a kettle with snacks: perfect!

For a Campanile Restaurant the evening meal had adequate choice and the buffet was restocked on a very regular basis. The standard of cooking and presentation was more than acceptable. After a long tiring drive there was nothing to complain about.

Nothing too fancy but good ingredients well prepared. Tastey and you don't have to travel far from the room to get it. Just the ticket after a long time on the road.

when its getting late in the day there is always the Campanile motels, clean rooms reasonable food and the right price
