"If you're staying in the village, you can go down to this restaurant and order food with a few hours notice. The chef will cook up the food on plates, wrap it up for transport and trust you to bring cutlery back the next day. We we're so impressed with the takeaway food, we spent a night there that was awesome! I suggest a visit to this restaurant when you're in the area, the atmosphere is amazing, food is delish, service is fast and friendly and portion sizes are huge!"

Perfect lunch: tasty plentiful food excellent service! Staying in local masía just out of Ullastret and whilst visiting the village for our daily bread we noticed Can Quel.. bustling from early morning with people having coffee and pastries in the sun so thought we would try for lunch. So glad we did. Excellent choice of food in terms of quality, range and price. Food came very quickly and everything we ordered was delicious (in no particular order mushroom croquettes, calamari, bacalau salad, sausage, ribs, tomato and burrata, aubergines and garlic shrimp… and in a distinctly un-Spanish way.. lots of vegetables and salad with the dishes! Couldn’t single out a favourite and can only assume t...

We stayed in Ullastret with some close Catalan friends who have a place there. While my friends were off to a nearby market, I walked a short distance to Can Quel restaurant. It was the second time I visited this restaurant having stopped the day before for some beverages. In this case, it was breakfast. I had a couple of cups of excellent coffee and a tortilla (Spanish Omelet). The tortilla was served hot, unlike many places where the food sits under a warming lamp. Service was very good. I sat outside in the patio area with a golden retriever and enjoyed looked at this old village while having a good breakfast. Hopefully, I will get a chance to visit again.

This is where the locals eat in this beautiful old village. The ladies just wanted salad but as the waiter said that they had snails I persuaded them to share a bowl whilst I had one for myself and how we enjoyed them. They came in great bowls, not your French six or twelve. Stewed with bits of pork, red pepper, onion and tomatoes, they were a real taste of Catalan food. Delicious. Whilst the girls enjoyed their different salads I had a very good roasted duck's leg. And all for less than your average uk pub prices.Very good value for money indeed.

We decided to stop here for a drink. the service was so friendly that we had a look at the menu. the squid was a special so we ordered. had a great bottle of local wine, croquettes, salads, pig cheeks, rabbit, steak, veal and chips during our time in Ullastret. one waiter speaks good English and is extremely kind and helpful. after 9pm the place fills with locals. on our final night the place was full, spilling out into the square. It was a celebration, but we were made to feel most welcome by the staff. a great place!
