This place rocks. Found it by accident after seeing the Mission across the street. We are foodies, so my 10 year old spied the Michelin Bib Gourmand sign as soon as we were seated. Counter service with ample seating. We had lunch on a weekday around 1:30pm, waited 3 minutes to order and another 5 minutes for our food (yep! and had a variety of menu items: Puerco Press Sando Special enormous, well seasoned, tender, moist. Even the bread was awesome. Took home half. Brisket (Taco delicious! One taco has a generous amount of meat for the light bite. TriTip (Taco delicious! Ditto. Texas Chili lots of flavor, our 10 year old loved it. Sides: Mac was creamy and noodles not over cooked. Our other 1...

Our group of six adults and two toddlers ordered an assortment of menu items, and every dish exceeded our expectations in terms of flavor and texture. I believe brisket is the true measure of quality barbecue, and the brisket here was practically perfection. Other meats, including pork ribs, tri-tip, and pulled pork, were equally impressive. The sides—beans, slaw, mac and cheese, potato salad, potato bread, and elote—were all delightful, and the jalapeño cheddar corn bread was exceptional. For dessert, the banana pudding was absolutely delicious. The owners of Heritage Barbecue evidently put significant effort into crafting world-class barbecue in the unexpectedly great locale of South Oran...

We ordered what we thought would be a delicious brisket sandwich, expecting sliced brisket. To our surprise, it was more like shredded brisket, reminiscent of pulled pork, and honestly, it was quite bland. It felt like it could have been cooked in my mom’s oven rather than on the impressive smokers we were standing beside. My wife opted for the pulled pork, which was definitely tastier than the brisket, but it too lacked that signature smoky flavor. We also shared some jalapeño and cheese cornbread. While it was moist and cheesy, it didn’t deliver on the jalapeño flavor at all. Save your hard-earned money and skip this place; head over to Bad to the Bone instead—much tastier!

I ordered a variety of BBQ for a family meal, which included 1 lb of tri-tip, pulled pork, a whole chicken, BBQ beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce. The ordering system indicated that we should arrive at 11 AM and that the staff would bring our order out, but when we got there, they hadn't even started preparing our order. We ended up having to carry the food ourselves, which was disappointing, especially considering the tip I included. On the positive side, the food was delicious—succulent and moist, with a rich, smoky flavor. However, I found it to be quite expensive. Reserva una mesa ahora

We enjoyed the festive atmosphere here, but found the barbecue mediocre and nothing to wait 15 minutes in line for. The restaurant is in a great location, near historic sites and other restaurants, shops and bars. The outdoor seating is mostly well-shaded and beer hall style (i.e. smaller parties will likely share a table with strangers). The pulled pork, in particular, was fatty and mushy. We had fun here, joking with other folks in line over drinks. But I’d be in no hurry to return.

Great BBQ. We had the brisket, ribs and sausage. It was all good. The brisket was really the highlight. It's hard to find brisket in BBQs in California. This was exceptional. The prices were higher than I'm used to paying, but since moving to So Cal, we are always paying higher prices for things. Overall, it's the best BBQ we've found since leaving Texas.

Charging Michelin prices for standard bbq. Not willing to shell out $100+ for bbq while standing in line outside for 1.5 hrs. Hertigae lost its ways, was nicer and better quality before it became all the hype. Tri tip was dry, brisket fatty and $37/lbs for 1 lbs mostly bone ribs are just too much...

Michelin listed across from San Juan Capistrano mission. Always a line but we’ll worth the wait. Tasty food served in outside rustic setting. The quality of the food was great but comes with a price. Reserva una mesa ahora
