tl;dr: takeout order took over an hour past it was supposed to be ready, and staff was rude.Ordered online for takeout as I 've done a lot in the past. Saw a 6:20 estimate for the order being ready which with an order completed at 6:05 I thought was probably inaccurate. Held back on arriving until 6:45 to pick up my order. Showed up and went inside to pickup at the only place there seemed to be to do that. Never got acknowledged for 10 minutes despite staff passing by me constantly; in some cases pushing me aside despite standing as far away from the main path as I could. Got asked my name and after replying got no further comments after that as the person that asked just disappeared. Found...
I came across this restaurant and, after reading the reviews, decided to try it since it's close to my home. I ordered the chimichanga without cheese and sour cream. However, I could see the kitchen from my table, and I noticed the chef added sour cream to my chimichanga. He then wiped it off using a kitchen rag from his workstation. I was hungry and in a rush, so I went ahead and ate it. Unfortunately, I had stomach issues that night and continued to feel unwell for days afterwards. If I had a dairy allergy, it could have been much worse; instead, I'm just dealing with being sick. Next time, please make a fresh one!
We thoroughly enjoy Carmelita's, but they now even better!! We took out of town guests and decided to try the meal for 4... it is next level delicious!! It was quite busy, but Erica and one chef had all customers happy and well fed!! 100% recommend you try it. Have tried the Shrimp Taquitos and they are very tasty and beautiful presentation. Go try it... you'll thank me!
Me and a friend both ordered the short rib enchiladas. They came with rice and beans. Everything was so delicious. The rib meat was so tender and tasty. I loved the mild flavors of the rice and beans. Service was excellent and the waitress was so pleasant and attentive. It was our first time there and I look forward to going back.

So so good! We needed a good Mexican restaurant. Margaritas address delicious and everything I’ve tried has been superb! Chicken nachos, steak tacos, beef flautas, little casita salad. All so good. It has a cool ambiance too! Glad they’re in Dana Point now!
Choose wisely! It seems like the kitchen staff may have changed. My meal was just okay, while the other four were either disappointing or downright terrible. As for kid-friendliness, this place is not suitable for children at all.
My husband, my son, and I love Carmelita’s! The salsa, refried beans, and chips are above average. I get the spinach enchiladas and they are excellent every time!
Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with my experience. As for kid-friendliness, it's definitely not suitable for children.
