I have been meaning to come back here for years. I last was here as a kid with my family almost 60 years ago. I essentially moved away after getting out of the service in 1978 but with family and friends still in the Center Moriches area, I have been coming back several times a year since. I went to this restaurant with a large group on a Friday evening and was surprised to find that we were the only guests there. It may have been the off-season in Westhampton, but I was impressed by the excellent food and service. The restaurant has a classic and traditional look with professional staff and Frank Sinatra playing in the background. The special menu was enticing and the waitstaff made it clear which regular menu items were not available. We had a large group for a bachelorette weekend and made reservations at this restaurant. They seated us at a large round table, which was perfect for conversation. There was no cocktail menu available, but they had a full bar. The menu offered typical Italian dishes. I ordered the farfalle bellavista pasta, which was half in a red sauce with sausage and half with broccoli rabe in garlic and oil. The food was a bit bland for my taste - not bad, but not very memorable. I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality. The restaurant was quiet and not very crowded. No surprise that Casa Basso came through with a great 4th of July dinner. Soft shell crabs were the hit of the evening, with two veal dishes a close second; the usual starters; and Italian white and reds as recommended by the helpful server. Outside lights were turned off for the fireworks display over the canal.
