The first time we ate at the Castaways several months ago, the food was absolutely dreadful...not what I had asked for and overcooked and could not chew the meat on my sandwich. The waitress could not have cared less when most of our food was uneaten...swearing never to return, by chance I had an obligated lunch there...the Belgian waffle with fruit was amazing, but the waitress was distracted an not engaged with our large group. I would give this restaurant no stars if possible. I came here for the first time today because of the good reviews, but let me tell you, those good reviews are not accurate. I waited at the register for five minutes and walked in to a lady yelling at a little boy who works there. She completely ignored me, so I took a menu and seated myself. There was only one person eating in the diner while I was there. I waited at the table in the back while a woman, a man, and a boy were seated up front. The food at this restaurant was just okay. The service was pleasant but not very attentive. The server only came to our table to take our orders and deliver our food. The busser only cleared one plate while all four of us were done eating, and never returned for the remaining dishes.

Beautiful authentic/local breakfast. They have early bird huge breakfast for $7. Amazing French Toast. And I cannot forget Marian our beautiful, super nice server made our experience very special.

This little gem in a quiet neighborhood by the Delaware bay has terrific food. Ordinary diner fare cooked optimally. Lovely service. I would definitely return.
