My boyfriend and I popped in last night (a Saturday for the first time, we didn’t have a reservation but were warmly greeted and immediately seated at a nice table. The restaurant has lovely homey decor and we both instantly felt comfortable there. When my first child and I meet up for a meal in Shrewsbury, Castle Thai is always our top choice. The food is consistently excellent, beautifully prepared, and incredibly tasty. We always opt for vegetarian or vegan dishes, and there is a wide selection to choose from. On our most recent visit, we enjoyed sweetcorn fritters, a delicious red vegetable curry with plain rice, a variety of starters, including tofu, coconut rice, and fresh side salads. My other half works five days a week in Shrewsbury so we thought we would sort out a date night for a Friday night. We narrowed it down to Castle Thai as we wanted somewhere independent and I could see that it had very good reviews. We weren 't disappointed. I liked that it was small and the decor was welcoming. The hosts were friendly and not 'in your face ' or pressuring us to order too quickly. We ordered the Singha Thai beer which was delicious, shared a chicken skewers with dips for starters, then I had a masamaan beef curry and my other half had a prawn meal. I visited this restaurant tonight with my wife and son. Our first impression wasn't great as the door was locked at 6pm (it should open at 5.30). However, once we were inside, the decor matched what we had heard: outdated. But as soon as the food started coming out, any doubts disappeared. My Tom Yum soup was the best I've ever had. All the dishes we tried were delicious, although I have had better Pad Thai elsewhere. If I had to find a flaw, I would say that none of the dishes were as spicy as I would expect from Thai cuisine. We saw this place when we first arrived in Shrewsbury, but didn't make it there for dinner until our last night. When we looked at the menu, all the wonderful offerings, we realized what a lot we were going to miss by only eating there once. So, we made the best of it. We shared an appetizer, this crunchy little chicken pocket with a delicious sauce #8, I forget the name), and the house special fried rice, and a coconut milk curry. The sauce was delicious. Everything was beautifully cooked. When we come back to Shrewsbury, this is the first place we will go. We liked the ambience, and the service could not have been better.

Absolutely fabulous meal. The staff were lovely. We had tried a walking, but they were fully booked. We booked for dinner 13th April. My partner has never had Thai food before he loved it. Worth the wait between courses, everything was prepared to order. The Mixed starter was a great hit, then simple noodles, coconut rice with Spicy seafood and beef in red wine sauce. We will visit again when we come back to Shewsbury.

It’s a very small authentic Thai restaurant. The food was delicious. The service was lovely, they really care and their smiles at the end of our meal when we complimented them made my night! We all enjoyed the mixed starter to share and then each of us had a different curry meal all great.

We dined with our vegetarian friend who eats fish, so we all opted for non-meat dishes, which were all delicious! The service was outstanding, as always, with the staff being friendly and welcoming.

We went for a takeaway tonight. We couldn't fault any of the 3 meals we had and the coconut rice was to die for. Such a lovely host, we'll definitely be back and can highly recommend
