It was like a cattle market …The customers were packed in you could barely move ! Other customers from tables were having to get up to let an older lady past with her zimmer frame, There was no system as 4 different waitress came to ask us our order. The waitress that severed us was rude and dismissive and she didn’t know what was available, when I asked her to ask the kitchen she never went to ask the kitchen. When the food came, the salad was sour which isn’t to everyone’s taste. I had a chicken mayo panini and it was yellow and didn’t taste fresh. Another member of the party had a panini and it was just thrown on the the plate and the bacon was pretty much just fat. Would have gotten bett...

This was once a great value place with high quality food but sadly the items on the menu have become more basic, and the prices are unjustifiable. The price increase is now in line with something you’d expect from a higher end restaurant and unfortunately Castleton cafe is not that. The side salad’s have diminished in size and the preparation has lost its edge unfortunately. There are better cafes nearby that serve more interesting menus with better value prices which is unfortunate because castleton was once a place I would recommend. I’d no longer advise visiting here, although I’m still an avid fan of their very reasonably priced produce in their shop.
This once great cafe has unfortunately taken a nose dive. Price increases are now so steep that the quality of food and service no longer aligns. The scale of operation has also meant that the level of service has fallen significantly. Examples being waiting 40 mins to order ice creams, going to desk to order and then being told its table service! 40 mins is not good table service. The long waits for service are now consistent over several visits. Every visit it gets a little bit more disappointing and we must surely be close to our last visit.
I used to frequent Castleton for years with friends, mostly for breakfast/brunch. We used to love it. A while ago they changed the menu, put the prices up and sadly we were very disappointed with both, so stopped going. Last week four of us thought we would give it another try, for lunch. The prices are very steep, we all struggled to find something on the menu to have but opted for 1 tuna sandwich; 1 terrine; 1 pea soup; half an egg mayo sandwich; 1 portion of chips; 3 coffees and 1 pot of tea. The bill was £54.50! We will not be going back. Reserva una mesa ahora
Travelling between Inverurie and Haddington we have seen the sign but never managed to call here. Today that changed. Despite the very heavy rain we found this restaurant. Staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Our grandson had a cheese and haggis panini with salad. I had a brie with cranberry sandwich and salad. My wife had soup with oatcakes. All the food was nicely presented and of a very high standard. There is also a farm shop. This restaurant is a bit off the main Dundee/Aberdeen road but it is worth diverting.
Always a pleasure to stop at this restaurant café with their beautiful conservatory and indoor seating. The food is so fresh and locally sourced. It is cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The staff are so helpful and attentive. We are never rushed and everything is so clean. Thanks again for another pleasant lunch!
We have often stopped at Castleton farm cafe , unfortunately today was the last time . Both meals were awful . It seems to me that they are a victim of their own success . Too busy , young , pleasant but inexperienced staff and tasteless food . I prefer quality rather than quantity .
Driving up to Aberdeen we popped in after seeing it advertised on the roadside. We were very impressed with the service and the food was beautiful. Lovely wee shop too. Definitely worth a look. Reserva una mesa ahora
