I came to this restaurant by chance to grab a quick bite as most of the other restaurants in the area were closed. I didn’t have any expectations and just went in with an open mind. As soon as you walk in, the interior deco seemed very disjointed as it didn’t match the name of the restaurant. The waitress was eating on the restaurant table while others were eating. Caulfield Chinese Restaurant is one of the longest and oldest restaurants around Monash University. The place situated just in front of the Caulfield Station and next to Monash University. The restaurant looks old from outside and not bright inside. The table wasn't cleaned properly as it's very oily and smell funny. Customer staff wasn't friendly and polite; Poor customer service. Another one of those strange places where the hygiene is highly questionable, the food an oily, absurdly oily mess and I'm really here more often than I'd care to admit. Order the same thing everytime minced pork/eggplant dish in a meal, no pork sweet, oily mess with wrinkly frozen peas and corn. Wonderful. For when you have an inclination towards artery clogging chinese food and poor, dismissive service.

Delicious and cheap. I eat here regularly. Reliable, little place frequented mainly by the Asian students the area. Casual not swanky. Curry laksa and char kway tiao are divine but have never been disappointed by any meal here and I’ve eaten here maybe 12 times by now. I ordered lunch with some friends, and we both chose the expensive vegetable dish along with a set of drinks. While the price was reasonable, we unfortunately couldn't finish our meals because the dish was too salty. Additionally, the staff were not very friendly, and the service was terrible. I won't be returning.

The food taste average even for a chinese taste preference, waitress barely speaks english, and the service takes a lot of time. We had the lemon chicken and braised pork belly. Both dish were dominated by one specific ingredient taste. The chicken was too sour and the pork has a strong dried squid scent.

Absolutely horrific service. I have been here twice and both times the service has been horrible the girls never say hello, never smile, and always are so unaccomodating. The food is below average and takes ages to come out. Will not be going back agai

The lunch prices here are very affordable, making it a great option for students and office workers. I highly recommend the deep roasted pork replacement ribs; they're a must-try!

The food was delicious, but we experienced issues with the behavior of the staff on two occasions. We hope that things improve the next time we visit, as we love dining there!
