The room is down in the lower level, like going into a cave..really neat I thought. Then the “surly” waiter showed up. Barely spoke to us...threw the menus on a table and walked away. I happened to trip and fell down...not seriously injured but I...needed a moment to regroup. A different writer came over and asked if I needed ice for my knee which I declined. I came to this twice, once on a previous trip by myself and this one, with parents. Both were excellent experiences. Three of us ate well — Tarte flambé a potato cheese dish... for a really good price. It’s underground, with stone structures,...like a cave... or an underground cellar. The Rosti are ABsolutely UNbelieveably delicious. Always busy because it is so delish. (OF COURSE, there are washrooms Am of European extraction so have had rosti of all kinds, but these were TheBestEver. ate here on new year for lunch very nice location.. food was really good and reasonably priced... its literally infront of the Cathedral, we jusr stumbled upon it and fillowed the sign (as it is actually a cave restaurant inside a hotel)... highly recommeneded...foe tourists visiting strasbourg france PS: foie gras is a must try

We stopped by while doing some sightseeing in the city center of Strasbourg. I love the atmosphere of an old anticlinal structured basement. I had a typical Tarte Flambee, a must-eat in that area. Seems to be a popular place, once it opened, it filled...up pretty fast
The Sauerkraut and salmon is highly recommended! Don’t miss out on the wine from the region as well. However, we were a bit disappointed by the sausage platter with sauerkraut as it was slightly tasteless. Not ideal for vegetarians vegans
