We booked a table at CBX for Melbourne Cup Day at $60 per person, expecting a themed event with a large TV screen and possibly some entertainment. However, it was just like any other day at the pub. We were served with a small glass of wine, two scallops, and a small portion of a dish. We had to go to the public bar to watch the race. It was definitely not worth the $60. I could have a better value senior lunch there for $15 any day of the week. Overall, we were very disappointed that it was not a Melbourne Cup Day function in any shape or form.
The service at this restaurant was disappointing. First, when I ordered a Hahn Light beer, the bartender mistakenly gave me a full strength one. The meals took a long time to arrive, and when they did, one of them came with the wrong side dish. The Veal Schnitzel was overcooked and greasy. Although the staff member offered a meal voucher after I expressed my dissatisfaction, we ended up leaving after waiting for 7 minutes with no further resolution. Overall, the poor service experiences at this restaurant resulted in a low rating.
It was a blowy night in Caloundra when we settled in for dinner and had to sit on the deck as the place was really busy. The menu covered steaks, pub favourites, salads, platters to share and pizzas. Kids were looked after too. We opted...for soup (not so nice pumpkin soup), absolutely delicious spring rolls, fish and chips, veal scallopini, and chicken schnitzel. The dessert menu looked pretty impressive, but alas we were all full. Staff were really nice which is a credit to the hotel.
We had one lunch and two dinners here. Food was very good to excellent. Chicken parma was VG, chicken schnitzel the next day was good but a bit dry notwithstanding a choice of gravies/sauces. The 250gr rump steak was grilled to perfection - nice cut of beef - excellent. The wine list needs a bit of jazzing up but this is Queensland so the wine and food culture is not so strong here. A good selection of beers on tap.Highly recommended if you are following a budget.

we are happy to visit caloundra for a week each year; so we thought again that we could get a very pleasant meal at this place. not so sad. elise g as a young waitress, was with empathy and a care factor for her role. Many thanks to our (pork) of the day were only average with undercooked brokkoli, flower cabbage and zucchini; and all served only warm. not sure that we will continue to visit here next year.
We had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant. Every meal we ordered was excellent and generously sized. We plan to return for lunch tomorrow thanks to the friendly and helpful service provided by Ryan. A special thank you to Ryan and the chef for accommodating our small child with allergies - she absolutely loved the meal. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
Wow, hardly enyone here at 7pm Sunday and now we know why.Ordered drinks and were served by an unsmiling, curt, miserable female .wow, never been unfortunate enough to encounter this type of service ever before. Certainly never again. it's called hospitality for a reason, you're supposed to be hospitable .oh also no soap in the gents toilets. Very poor.
Had lunch with friends, medium steak was “WELL DONE”, no pink at all. Mornay Bugs on menu, we got there early, none...was looking forward to Bugs. Garlic cream prawns steak topper was Luke warm. No oysters at all. No gravy on veal or chicken schnitzel...when served- ordered gravy for each one....had to ask again. Mmmmmm.... not happy Jan.

Wow the female bar manger should not work there. Treating people with a medical exemption like absolute trash, Wow.
Love the food. Will definitely be back a lot. Staff are very accomodating. Thank you for the vegetarian pizza.
