We came across Celler by chance one evening looking for a late, after dinner coffee. After having explored the alleyways of the Geltrú we stopped here for a coffee. Disscovering the owner was a paesano of my husband, (well, they're both Italian from different...cities) we decided to go back the next evening to try it. Stefano, the owner settled in VNG after having travelled Europe studying culinary arts and working in restaurants and hotels where he met his wife. They opened Cellar last May and this is thier first summer tourist season. Inside it's small but there are tables both on the ground floor as well as in an upper loft. You'd certainly need to book in advance in winter. The street is pedestrian only so there are tables outside in good weather. The menu is set up as a gourmet tapas menu. You can get individual portions or you get one of the three tasting menus he has created: Catalonian- with samples of local cheeses and cold cuts , Italian with Melanzane bruschette and homemade ravioli made with his grandmother'srecipe or the Vegetarian menu- with fresh homus, and spinach pie. We tried each tasting menu, as well as the Patatas Brava, which were the best in town! You can get wine or Cava by the glass or the bottle, the house recommendations were excellent. Prices were very accessible and everything was delicious, we'll prepared and top quality. Yes we would recommend to friends and yes we will go back.
