"I had the worst tortas at Tortas Ahogadas Chago. The tomato sauce was extremely acidic and lacked any salt. The food was really disappointing. It's only famous due to advertising, but the flavors are quite terrible."

We decided to give this restaurant a try since our usual spot was closed and we were craving a torta ahogada. First off, the service was excellent. My wife, son, and I ordered the torta ahogada, while my daughter chose the tacos. Unfortunately, none of us enjoyed our meals. While it may appeal to some, it certainly didn't meet our expectations. The meat and broth lacked flavor, and the bread was far too hard and chewy for our liking. I recommend trying El Guero at Whittier and Ford instead. I can confidently say you won’t want to return to Chago after that experience, and we certainly won’t be back.

I only come to eat here when my parents insist, and I can't imagine any other way to get me to return. The food is mediocre; after just a few bites, you quickly lose interest and have to push yourself to finish. The interior is unkempt—there were even termites on the windows, and it felt quite dilapidated. They have a wall dedicated to celebrities, which you'd think would enhance the atmosphere, but it actually makes it worse. I strongly recommend avoiding this place altogether.

We had been meaning to visit, and we finally made it today. The Tortas ahogadas were delicious, and the tacos dorados were great too. This is, in fact, the only place where I can find Jericallas (a dessert made with milk, eggs, vanilla, and cinnamon, topped with a nice crust). The staff here is very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. My husband and I highly recommend this place!

This place is absolutely amazing! I'm Peruvian, but my wife, who is 100% Mexican and grew up in Guadalajara, gives this restaurant a 9 out of 10 compared to the tortas back home. The chili is spicy but adds incredible flavor, and the sauce is fantastic! You definitely won't regret checking this place out. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had our first visit to this restaurant and were truly impressed with the tacos dorados de Papa and the torta ahogada de carnitas! Our server, Julia, was very attentive and frequently checked in on us. The customer service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place!

I like this place a lot!! the taste of the tortas are so alike to the tortas from Guadalajara , and the hard tacos are the best!! .. I definitely recommend this place to go with friends or family . Sometimes the wait it’s a little bit long but it’s definitely worth it.

I want to express my dissatisfaction with the prices. The crispy potato taco with tongue costs $4.50 each? Seriously?! A pound of carnitas is around $10 almost everywhere. Also, they were very greasy. I can make my own tacos at home. I won’t be ordering again.

As for the dining atmosphere, it's decent. You can opt to sit indoors or outdoors, where they have umbrellas and some lovely vintage decor. However, parking can be a bit of a challenge. Every time I visit, I end up hunting for a parking spot. Reserva una mesa ahora

The flavors here remind me of home-cooked meals. Every bite is fresh and tasty. You absolutely have to try the meat and the hot sauce—they're standouts on the menu. The owner makes a point to personally greet customers whenever he's around.
