The drive up, to be honest, is quite slow on steep windy and mostly narrow roads, but it's well worth it! We had small cars, so you don't need a 4 wheel drive although I suspect you might if it is raining. Driving up you will see the most spectacular views breath taking! Once you arrive at the top you can almost hear the yodelling! The restaurant is in the middle of the French mountains and surrounded by cows all dingling as they walk and graze with their bells around their necks. Such a beautiful, serene surrounding. The restaurant itself is fabulous very French, with about 8 menu options of 3/4 courses each. There is a large terrace which caters for groups of all sizes and the food is very rustic, very good and excellent value! The french fries are of particular note! As is the creme brulee! After a leisurely lunch, be sure to take a long walk up and across the moutain to get more spectacular views and walk off all that food and wine! The drive down is much quicker and once again allows you to enjoy spectacular views. An important thing to note the restaurant does not take credit cards! This is a cash only restaurant. So stock up on your Euro's before you head up the mountain as there is nowhere up there to withdraw cash. We had to scrounge around for enough money and ended up paying in Euro's and Swiss francs as we were not forewarned. If you are in this part of the beautiful world, be sure to treat yourselves to Chalet de L'Anglettee and make sure you take the whole afternoon to enjoy it!
