Chap's Grille - Reservar una mesa

We had just arrived in New Haven for an afternoon visiting the Yale campus and were looking for lunch near our hotel Graduate New Haven and the nearby parking garage. This place looked clean and had a nice outdoor patio, although we chose the cooler, less crowded indoor seating. We split a Caesar salad. He had a Chicken gyro, which I had the traditional Lamb gyro. Absolutely yummy! And generous portions. Friendly welcoming staff!!

We made a reservation on OpenTable for six people. Arrived at the scheduled time only to find the restaurant completely closed and dark. Clearly, the restaurant was not serving customers that entire day and we should not have been able to make a reservation. It caused some significant trouble and embarrassment for us as we had to find alternative dining arrangements on a Saturday night during parents weekend.

The stuffed french toast looked REALLY good. But when I took my first bite...it was strawberries and cream cheese. Like not cream cheese frosting or something cream cheese based. Fully the stuff you slather on a plain bagel. Yikes. It didn't taste as good as it looked. The home fries were alright though.

I ordered egg, cheese and pastrami sandwich. There was not enough Pastrami and was a low quality.Food: 3/5
