Château de Mercuès

Very nice atmosphere in an old castle hall. Modern enough decor to make the place seem new although slightly dark wall and ceiling colors. Enjoyable. We took the five course version on the offered menu as seven seemed just too much. We also took the offered wine parings providing a different glass of wine which each course. This was perfect and I would recommend this. The meal was exceptional in all aspects and courses. For us five courses were plenty of very rich and filling food. The price with aperitif, coffee and digestif was a little over 300 euros. Which is reasonable in my experience. I would will eat here again.

We lunched in the brasserie during the promotion votre invité est notre invité when two guests eat for the price of one. The very special location is worth a visit. The decoration in the brasserie is almost depressingly sombre. The wine was good and the markup not too excessive. The service was both friendly and correct. The food was little better than average, certainly if we had been paying €39 per person! A lunch more memorable for the superb location than the meal giving my overall rating.

The dinner was just excellent. Not overly complicated, very tasty and decent portions. The wine selection was also excellent. Looking forward to eat here again.

I am updating my review because after much pressure they finally agreed to credit me back for the unused breakfasts during our stay I hope they will fix

Nous avons testé le restaurant gastronomique et la table du bistrot. Les 2 sont excellents et font honneur aux produits de la région !
