Chateau de Salinelles

It was a dark and stormy night when the 3 of us went here on the last Thursday in November. In fact, if we hadn't booked the weekend before we wouldn't have gone out anywhere that night, but Thursday is the night this restaurant has the fish buffet which had been recommended to us by a friend. We were the first people to arrive, just before 8pm and hoped we would not be the only people brave enough to go out that night, because inside the building it is pleasantly palatial, with lovely simple decor, barrel arched roofs and a piano in one corner. the chateau setting is lovely - beautiful room inside. However when we arrived they decided to put the music on - given the fact we were in a very old building I was expecting some low key classical music but what ended up being played was 1980's hits from George Michael and others. Now, I have no problem with this type of music but it just didn't go with the setting!we ordered the local steak from the black bulls in the region and it was extremely tough - one of the worst steaks I have had.The starters were very ordinary and the desserts were rather strange - my husband had a 'deconstructed lemon meringue pie' which came in a glass and was not very nice.all in all the worst and most expensi...

we went for dinner on Sept 5th, because the restaurant had a Cuban evening with a live band.when we reserved, we were told, that we would probably eat inside, as the weather had turned a bit cold, so we dressed for inside. To our surprise, we were sat outside, in 15 degrees and wind!! Lukily we live closeby, so we could go home for jackets, scarfs etc.we ordered our menus and waited a long time to be served, by the only waitress in sight ( for about 10 tables)our friends joined us a half hour into our meal, ordered and waited over an hour for their meal.................no excuse from the waitress, just: it's not my fault, but the kitchen's!it could have been a really good evening, as the mus...

We loved the ambiance, and I would like to give the food 3.5 stars, if possible. Better than average , but not very good ! We were there with family group of 10, including 4 children, and the outdoor seating was perfect for us. The waitress, serving...the whole outdoors all by herself, did as good a job as could be possible! They had a child 's menu, and the hamburger and frites worked very well for our 4. Good desserts! we were 8 friends who ate in the castle. aperitifs in the hof, followed by a 3-course punch. the menu was well thought out: salad with goat cheese or grilled thun, followed by schell or filetmignon and a beautiful lemon ice cream to finish a delicious meal. the waitress smiled and very efficient. all in all a good experience.

Much better now than with the previous owners but expensive for what it was the desserts were very ordinary for a menu at this price. The menu presented to us at the table bore no resemblance to the one posted outside. But we did...enjoy our meal which was nicely presented.

We were 30 friends for lunch there. The service was very good and the kitchen was well prepared to serve us without delay. The starters were very good, the beef delicious, but the veal was a disappointment. Desserts were fine. The portions were very generous. Reserva una mesa ahora

The chateau has had changes in management over the years. I have eaten there a few times before with varying experience. The current management are by far the best. I had the Thursday evening seafood buffet.

this restaurant has closed last year. it had changed the hands over the years many paintings and the last people were very good. the owners of the building are trying to find a new renter.
