I am very sad to have to write my first negative review on Tripadvisor, but I feel like this needs to be shared with other people. I've been to plenty of different places around the world, but have never experienced what I've experienced here. In...that way, you could say this place is very special.. We were heading towards the end of our holiday, and heard from our neighbours at the camping that this restaurant was really good, so we decided to try it. The restaurant has everything to succeed in giving the customer a great evening. The setting is magical, the place is really beautiful, on top of the hill, the interieur decorations makes you feel like you are back in medieval times. There is no doubt about this, it is a very unique location for a restaurant. Unluckily, the service and food are simply outrageous. The woman taking care of our table was very unfriendly. We are aware it is known of the French to be unfriendly, but there are limits. It felt like we were not welcome, or that she was serving us against her will. Furthermore, the food wasn't good at all. There is not a lot of choice on the menus; for the cheaper menu the main dish is a vegetarian option, or fish (mackerel). The restaurant claims to work with local products. So far I know, there is no mackerel swimming in the Verdon, but I decided to go for it. The vegetables served were very salty and greasy. The fish didn't seem fresh. It's a shame a place with so much potential turns out to be a deception. They should get new staff; maybe then, this place could live up to the expectations.
We spent a 3-night stay at the castle. staff, from the reception to the maintenance of the rooms to the service, is kind, helpful and professional. the panoramic terrace is ideal for spending afternoons of farniente te. the view is unbeatable on the valley and the surrounding area. the rooms are all different. we had a room in the tower and a suite, small advantage of the suite, the private outside that allows to take breakfasts in all tranquility. Breakfast is a copious one. the restaurant: at the beginning we thought we'd go one night and not more because it's a reduced 3-entrance, 3-course and 3 desserts ... at the end we went back there every night. the dishes are copied, well present and copied. they are made with country products. accessibility: we are 3 people with reduced mobility. Sure there are markets but they are feasible. There are ramps from all over the world to facilitate climbing and descent. But if you're in a chair, unfortunately it won't be possible. You are a few lkilometrrs of holy sheep, worthy .. there are rides on motorcycles, by bike to do. In the village you can discover a sculptor, a person who makes binding and many other professionals.
