Still some old fashioned restaurants around and chemistry is one of them. Went on a Sunday and the place was packed at 1:00 pm. Shared a smoked meat plate as it was too large for one person, side plate of fries, coleslaw, a dill pickle and coffee and the bill was not cheap, $23 with tax. But you sit in a booth or at the counter. Plenty of food to choose from and they have take out and delivery as well. Smoked meat was delicious, no fat on it and we didn't even think of asking for lean. You can buy a huge wrapped pastrami for upto $200. Great for parties and guests will enjoy it. If you are ever in this part of town you must visit!!!
My wife and I were there last Tuesday for lunch on our way back to Toronto. Our waitress was a very efficient bubbly young lady with a great smile and gave us great service. For the last 20 years we have had lunch there anytime we are in Montreal (our cottage is just North of Montreal). Huge sandwich, great cold slaw, room for improvement in the fries department, get rid of the frozen, mushy fries and go for fresh cut Russet Potatoes, a little more expensive but just the best there is. Every time I travel to or thru Montreal I have to stop at Chenoy's for lunch or dinner. It is the best smoked meat in the city, province, country hands down.We both had an old fashioned sandwich mine a double of course with fries the best tasting cloe slaw and a huge pickle. The service was great friendly and the atmosphere is true deli restaurant. Whether for lunch or dinner when in Montreal come out to the west island on Saint John Blvd and try Chenoy's you won't regret it.
Stopped by this place last weekend. Considering it was a Saturday night of a long weekend, it should have been busy. I think only 3 tables were taken. I ordered a smoke meat, was. Ok. Waitress very pleasant. My friend had cheesecake. Was at least 3 days old. Since I wanted one as well, we decided to drive back to Montreal and go to Dunn's. Cheesecake excellent, fresh and the place was packed.

I went in salivating for the best smoked meat on the West Island. My husband got his. But me...yuck! It was a grey color with lots of fat. Never saw that in Chenoy's before. I had to give it back to the waitress who was great. I did get another which was delicious. So as I said...what the heck happened? I could have become very sick eating that.
Some of us didn't order smoked meat...big mistake! If we had, I'm sure we wouldn't have been disappointed. It's a smoked meat place after all. I ordered other food and it was just okay. It filled the void. The waitress was disagreeable...so that soured me even more on the meal. Advice: Give attentive service with a sincere smile.
Food was okay, the decor is worn and tattered. Why they can not invest in renovations is a questions that baffles the mind, I am pretty sure nothing has been changed since their opening.
Who wouldn't want nachos at 10pm. Great for after work if working late. Provides an incredible selection of food, including breakfast. Haven't been disappointed yet.

smoke meat very good some good deals to have for a big menu, too bad its supposed to close or at least move i have gone there since the 70s
Always stop here on way back from a trip to Montreal. Great smoked meat sandwiches. I recommend their classic.
