"Stumbled upon this little gem in the centre of an otherwise grey village on Lake Leman. Small but cozy space complemented by a warm welcome and a smart ambience. The concept of choosing "tapas" to mix-match your own dish is refreshing - and extremely tasty. Everything tasted fresh, notwithstanding the tiny kitchen they had to work from. Certainly worth a visit when in town."

A group of 8 of us went for dinner and had a great experience - the staff was very friendly and fun (the waiter saw us taking photos outside while we waited for our table and came out to assist); the atmosphere is quaint and romantic (but not overly so); there was a good selection of wine, which was very reasonably priced as a bonus; the appetizers were all great and the desserts were worth it. I highly recommend the onion soup and the green been salad - this salad was amazing if you like green beans, and the onion soup was the best we had this trip. The entrees is the one area that I didn't think was stellar - I had the beef bourguignon, which was over-cooked. The phesant was good. Portions are on the large side for everything. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and return myself!

We were hoping for dinner, but despite the large chalkboard menu on the wall, we were told that they only serve lunch. Okay, so we had some delicious wine the server selected and she was spot on, it was wonderful. After 3 days here, we still haven't figured out why some places are open for dinner on some nights and others aren't. Tonight (Friday) we went out and there was a huge street fair going on with vendors serving fried fish, mussels, and all other kinds of delicacies - we had dinner at a place on the lake and wish we had found the street fair first. Chez Fernand was open and serving food and beverage on this night as well.

Whenever I'm in Thonon I like to stop at Chez Fernand for a good noisette or espresso because they have the best coffee in town. They also make a great juice of the day, different everyday made with fresh fruit. It is always excellent. You can also have a light and healthy lunch, last time I was there I took the goat cheese salad and it was very good. For dessert I took a chocolate tart and I was also very tasty. Prices affordable. Food made of fresh quality products. The waitresses and barmen very nice, smiley and helpful. Very good place for a quick and healthy meal.

They have about 7 items to choose from in small portion sizes. You get 4 choices for about 14 euros, 5 for 15.5 euros (from memory) which is then enough for a decent meal.Pros: will take orders relatively late (past 2PM). Great if you are in a hurry - service was very quick even though the place was full. Food was pretty good.Cons: Only serve food at lunch. No bookings. A bit cramped. Only a couple of desserts to choose from.Note, you might have to share a table with someone else.
