We ate here two times in the last week. One time (by accident) going down to the Perigord-region, and one more time for lunch on our way back, because we just loved it.Jako and his wife serve very, very French food. No additional elements as a curry-flavor for example. But their food is just wonderful. Great, honest ingredients, good staff. The setting in the garden (and in the restaurant itself) is simple and basic. But it doesn't need that at all. This is what French Cuisine is all about. No Mickey Mouse stuff. A pleasant owner and his wife. Good French food. (This address might not be suitable for the sensitive customers. For example; my wife asked for a chocolate mousse for desert, it has just been made. She was given the bowl with the comment; just scoop out how much you would like in your own bowl). I can understand that not many people would like this approach, so I would like to say to them; stay away, if you please!

We turned up at Chateau De Raray around 7:30 only to find it shut! A quick google led us here and what a great find it turned out to be.They squeezed us in, served us excellent ale and good wine and after a comfortable time, showed the menu (on a blackboard) and Jako very patiently, and with excellent humour, explained most of the dishes to us.The four of us ordered, some being braver than others and we were all delighted with our choices. The atmosphere was really warm - there was a guitarist in there when we first arrived which worried me as he was stood right behind me but he was really very good - he stopped afte 20 minutes or so, passed the hat round and exited stage left. All of the staff were super friendly and indulged our very basic grasp of French. The bill was very reasonable we thought considering that we ate and drank very nicelyWould certainly return if ever if the vicinity

This was my first meal in France and one of the best I had while there. We liked it so much that we are there twice during our trip. Everything we had was delicious and prepared with love. It's not fancy but it seems to get to the heart of French cooking in a way fancier places miss. The wine list is superb and the wines are served at the proper temperature. Everything that matters they nail precisely and everything that doesn't they feel free to be eclectic with. I will definitely be coming back here!P.S The sausage was the best I've ever had!

We were a party of 6 and were warmly welcomed by Jako in this friendly restaurant. Food was well prepared and quite delicious, with generous portions. For mains we tried a varied selection - lamb knuckle, roasted sanglier, duck, bavette, andouillette, all extremely good. We will return to Chez Jako.
