What an amazing chicken joint! It puts every chicken chain to shame. HUGE, clean fresh pieces of chicken, no grease! lunch special has 3 massive fried chicken pieces with an oversized portion of home cut fries, along with a delicious ball of fried corn bread. All for $7.50. They also have Fish and chips, chicken strips, and shrimp dinner meals. The owner was a real nice guy, who at the time was handling all the orders himself with several customers. He was very nice, and even came by halfway threw our meal to ask us how the meal was and if we needed anything. Before you put that KFC, A&W **** in your mouth, go try Chicken on the Way. You won't go back to that tiny greasy chicken joints ever...
Crispy, golden fried chicken, delicious battered shrimp with an amazing shrimp sauce, and the corn fritters are a reason all on their own to stop in. This place is always clean, and the staff friendly. Best fried chicken anywhere! But their fries are soggy piles of mush, and the poutine doesn't improve anything because they use grated cheese, not authentic cheese curds. Haven't tried the fish and chips because I refuse to pay for their fries. Chicken fingers good, but pales in comparison to the fried chicken.
The fried chicken here is fantastic, and the portions are generous. The fritters are also outstanding. While the atmosphere of the restaurant isn't much to boast about, the staff was incredibly friendly. Even though we were the only diners at the time, there was a steady stream of takeout orders. I wouldn’t hesitate to return the next time we pass through Brooks.
