We went on a Sunday evening and the empty seats should have been taken as a warning. The buffet looked like a left over from lunchtime. The rice was dry and crunchy, the main dishes were not replenished just some sauce and overcooked vegetables. The sauces for the appetisers were covered with a thick skin. The taste of the food itself was unpalatable. We are from the area and as much as we would like to support a local restaurant, the owners of this place simply do not care for their customers. Politely experiencing our dissatisfaction produced no acknowledgment or attempt to rectify from the person at the counter. Needless to say we are never returning. Food is awful, with no authenticity ! We ordered a Sweet and sour chicken which wasn’t too bad, but it tasted a bit off. But the shrimp salad was, disgusting! A couple of leafs of lettuce with badly chopped cucumbers, carrot strands, a couple of LIMP FROZEN shrimp 7/8 of them), and a TON of MAYO ! We tried to order one more time, just to be fair with our decision. But this time we tried to order to deliver. We called the restaurant and after waiting a minute or so a lady picks up rather rudely. I explained her that my German wasn’t great so I would be mixing German and English. This restaurant is a gem in Saarburg. The Chinese couple who own the restaurant does all of the serving and food preparation. We have dined here several times and the buffet is excellent. We have also eaten off of the menu and I strongly recommend...the hot plat dish titled Alles Gute meaning all is good; and it is! While this town is widely known for its many, many Eis (ice cream restaurants) this Chinese gem will not fail to please. While they do open at the buffet is usually not fully ready until for lunch. Oh do try the chicken soup at the buffet. Buffet is only offered during lunch on Friday, Saturday Sunday. Enjoy!
our family of six was ready to eat lunch, and all the restaurants were closed for faschings Monday except mandarin! we were so happy with the buffet and the very friendly family prices! other profis: heaters worked well, bathroom were clean and tidy, and service...was professional. the only negatiw could be kicking, but I didn't ask if they had one because we didn't need one. many thanks to mandarin, for the wonderful meal, and we all recommend this place to family.

Offering both a la carte and a self serve buffet (Fri-Sun Only) the China Restaurant Mandarin is a great place for a sit down Chinese meal in Saarburg. The menu is extensive without being confusing and all meals are good value, particularly those for kids,...which are priced at around Euros each. This place serves the best Peking duck ever, fact!
I can't recommend this restaurant. Some of the food looked like it had been sitting for a while and it gave me a stomach ache. Also, I never got the drink I ordered. To top it all off, the owner was incredibly rude when I didn't give her the correct amount of money. With that experience, I will not be back
We were at the Halloween shopping weekend in Saarburg and returned here for dinner. The food was just delicious and the value for money was still good. The service was great. The restaurant is definitely recommended.
