A regular pub when you enter, but far from a regular... The Chinchilla offer a 4- or 6-course menu, something from the usual in Leukerbad! Ok, this is not a Michelin Star place, but we enjoyed the variety of courses (with tuna, salad, pork and ribeye as basic ingredients) and that the staff really seemed to enjoy and tell us about each product. Some sophisticated combinations of flavors in the courses, usually succesful, made the meal interesting. They offer a wine package, we tried half of it was good. So if you want something other than traditional Swiss cuisine, look for some experience and can accept set menus outside the Michelins, then this could be the place for you.
We were looking for a good dinner and have looked at some reviews for Chinchilla. decided to try our luck and were not disappointed! It is a pub, but they have a “hidden menu” that they do not advertise for at the entrance of the pub. It is a set menu of 5 courses to which you can add the cheese plate and heavenly dessert! We also added the wine pairing option (all from the Wallis region). The food is not your daily Swiss booklet and could be considered like gastroub. We loved it and would go back anytime! The staff was very friendly and explained everything very thoroughly. Price for money: very good.
We come to Leukerbad every year and enjoy the food in Chinchilla on every visit. The food is more like a high end restaurant but the environment has a cosy friendly pub atmosphere. All dishes are made especially for the guest with fresh ingredients. I can highly recommend Chinchilla.
