Had hot chocolates and toasts in this delightful bayonne institution after reading about it in a travel guide. Not disapointed, full of character, attentive service, we were reassure by the fact that many locals were there. We could have had scrumptious looking ice creams but wanted to try the hot chocolate as it is their speciality. It came in a little serving set fit for Marie Antoinette, intense in flavour with an inch and half of froth !!!. The shop/tearoom is exactly like in an old french movie, amazing !
Dont bother; the most overrated experience I have had in a decade. They had only one waitress for the whole restaurant. It took over 50 minutes to get a hot chocolate, which arrived cold. It would have been good if it hadnt been cold, but it is a limited art form! Very expensive compared to other cafes nearby. Most disappointed Other customers next to us agreed , also got cold hot chocolates
Gorgeous old fashioned cafe which had been recommended for its amazing hot chocolate.We were there on a summers day but just had to try it.Beautifully served delicious not too sweet or bitter with amazing froth.Do order the brioche toast to go with it it really works.We got caught out by the lunchtime closing and had to wait till they reopened.
It has been there forever and for good reason. The house specialty is ''chocolate chaud" or hot chocolate served with buttered toast. From French shoppers to school children to tourists this is a wonderful experience. The handmade chocolates they sell are also wonderful and it would be a shame not to take a box home.

I can only rate the hot chocolate here but will say it is probably the best drink I had overseas. It was recommended by a tour guide and most of our group ran here and tried some of the mouse selection. While it is pricey (6 euros), you do get a lot and the experience is worth it.
This place is for dark chocolate lovers. Hot chocolate with water or milk, vanilla or cinnamon, ice cream, you can't go wrong. And real nice pastries to top it off, this is a must see in Bayonne.
What a nice and friendly place to taste a delicious hot chocolate in Bayonne! Staff is friendly and the chocolate worth the while. We paid around 8€40 for a hot chocolate and one toast. Enjoy!
