"Arrived with a group of 5 on a Friday night but got a table upstairs near the kitchen. As we had committments went for the express banquet ($45/head) which provided a good variety of tasty food: some meals I wouldn't have normally ordered eg pig tail. The courses came quickly, were tasty"

TL;DR: We have ourselves something that goes above and beyond, and is possibly even a special treat. It is not very often that something where everything is firing on all cylinders makes such an apparent appearance, and it is even rarer that it is readily accessible and does not feel exclusive or anything. Many words could be used to describe here, but the best course of action is to book it in sometime and enjoy what is in store.  Indicative of glories from the past, and indicative of a recurring chapter in redeveloping the inner city comes of the biggest up-and-coming winners to Brisbane's dining scene. From the brainchild behind massive favourite Madame Wu's is the next cab off the...

A mixed experience but mostly negative It started and ended badly but my meal was delicious (this was the only redeeming feature of the place). Such a pity about the rude waiter, my fiancé's meal and the kitchen.    Oh, and the fire. We had a booking for six but three cancelled at the last minute. Rather than occupy six seats on a Saturday night, we volunteered for a smaller table so they could fit in a few more patrons. Our new table was beside the kitchen and all the staff were former marines who insisted on shouting OORAH! at everything the chef said. That’s not true, it sounded more like WAI! But the effect was like being in a military parade. I understand that chefs...

We booked with 24 hours notice for a Friday evening dinner. We were seated promptly near the service bar upstairs. This table was a little noisy and subject to high traffic staff, but understandable given our late booking. We were greeted by friendly wait staff who explained the menus very well to us. We chose the Express Banquet ($45 p/p) and "Express" it certainly was. Almost to a fault. Our table was full of banquet dishes within 10 minutes. The food was all well-presented and tasty. We feel the Express Banquet is very well-priced. The wine list is over-priced, but this is to be expected in inner city restaurants. The "vibe" of Chu The Fat is an interesting combination of industrial chic a...

Walked in at 7:15 and had to wait for a table so had a few drinks downstairs until we were seated upstairs at the restaurant a bit over an hour later. Smoked beef tongue was my favourite dish of the night. Beef kalbi probably my least favourite - just needed a bit longer cook as it was tougher than what I was expecting. During dinner I was unsure as to which rose to order by the glass so the waitress gave me a taste test of each. Overall a fun dining experience and will be back!!

Sunday lunch, restaurant was not that busy. Entrees came out after 30mins, mains took another hour for a table of three. A table of diners seated near us left as they were sick of waiting for food. Restaurant is very unorganised, a lot of inexperienced wait staff running around and what appeared to be only one person on the floor who knew what was going on. Food finally arrived and was so salty it was inedible. We left without finishing any of the meals.

Chu the Phat is an excellent restaurant for a date or for dinner with friends. The menu is extensive and there will be something for every taste. The portions are quite big, but excellent for sharing. Set in west end along fish lane, there is plenty of options for pre and post dinner drinks or hit up Messina Gelato for desert afterwards. The service, decor and food were all exceptional. Highly recommend as a must do dinner destination in south brisbane. Reserva una mesa ahora

Chu The Phat has been on the Wishlist for very long time and finally got to try it out after reservation. Love the stylish interior and the atmosphere, however the food does not match with the high expectation. Fusion menu is creative but the taste is average, also not really good value for money.
