Cielo Rojo - Reserva de mesa

The service was subpar during our visit this evening. We were seated at the furthest table in the back corner and our waitress seemed more preoccupied with a large party behind us. We had to flag her down for everything, including refilling our water. The only time she was friendly was when it came time to select a tip amount using Apple Pay. I didn't try any cocktails, so I can't comment on that. The food was decent, but there are at least three other Mexican restaurants in Columbia Heights that I believe offer a more authentic experience. Overall, aside from the ambiance, this restaurant doesn't have much else going for it.

I am able to enjoy Mexican cuisine without any stomach or PCOS issues at this restaurant. The dishes taste like homemade food with gluten and dairy-free options available, which is a great advantage. The staff is friendly, kind, and attentive. I suggest visiting during the holidays as they serve a delicious ponche. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I have been to Cielo Rojo on a couple of occasions. The quality of the service, food and atmosphere is always excellent. Their great Oaxacan-inspired dishes distinguish them from other Mexican restaurants in the DMV. Cielo Rojo's plant-based options are top-notch as well. Highly recommended!
