I have to admit, I'm not usually a fan of barbecue, especially not this kind. Many places focus on large portions, but their sides are often lackluster, and the meat isn't usually anything special. However, this restaurant serves generous portions, and everything is outstanding—both the meat and the sides. The staff was wonderful, too. They asked us if we had dined there before, and when we said no, they treated us to a generous sample of three different meats. I kept it simple with some smoked sausage and smoked turkey, and it was incredible! My husband and I were so full that we didn’t even feel hungry for dinner later, and we left with a to-go box.
We recently hosted our son's Rehearsal Dinner/Meet and Greet in Raleigh. Living out of town, the task of coordinating this event was a tad bit overwhelming. Imagine our good luck to find our well known Columbus City Barbecue and Catering in the Raleigh area! Our choice was made instantly. Lynn Wittig is a true gift-she helped us find a location, listened to my ideas and provided us with a menu that people are STILL raving about! We couldn't be happier with how the evening played out. We visited for the first time and found it quite busy, but we actually enjoyed the wait. The food was amazing—the brisket was exceptional, and the pulled pork sandwich was just as good. We also loved the green side dish. My wife can't stop talking about the banana pudding—it's delicious! Mmmm.
My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time during our trip to Cary, and we absolutely loved the food and the Southern ambiance. The customer service was excellent as well. We will definitely be dining here many more times!

I really enjoy all the sauces and the friendly staff. The ribs are definitely worth the wait, and the brisket is incredibly tender! The mac and cheese and corn pudding are delicious too!
City Barbecue is undoubtedly the best barbecue spot in the area. The side dishes are excellent and the service is great. It has quickly become one of our favorite places to eat!
Nice place for family and kids. We love the southern style barbecue here. My family and friends enjoyed this place so much. 4.5 Star for me.
