Decided to order from here for the first time, delivery. Food arrived on time but wasn't exactly what I had expected. Sure it was flavorful, but when I've ordered biryani from other places, it generally had more than just rice, seasoning and the protein. This calamari biryani had nothing but the seasoned rice, a few almond slivers, and sixish calamari rings. I had also ordered the mushroom mattar, but when it arrived, all I got was a container full of sauce, three-ish scoops of peas and a few blocks of very firm tofu. Very good option for affordable Indian food. The price to portion ratio surprised me. We over ordered but were happy to have the leftovers for lunch the next day.The Chicken Tikka Masala was excellent. Garlic naan was flavorful it was more like a garlic butter naan. The mushroom chili naan felt like too much almost like a dish in itself, not as like naan to eat the other items with.The chicken biryani was good but I wouldn't say it's the best I've had. The rice had good spices and the chicken was not dry.
I’ve tried dozens of Indian Pakistani restaurants in the Bay Area over the years, and this is now my go to spot for Indian food. Their tikka masala is the best I’ve ever had. Unlike some other Indian restaurants, Clay Oven is not too oily or salty. The meats are moist and cooked perfectly. And the vegetarian dishes are also delicious. My favorites are saag paneer and baingan bartha. It’s also a fantastic value for the amount of food you get.
After googling a few places, Clay oven was the best when it came down to timing. Service was great and food was awesome, we tried the fish pakora and tandoori sampler as appetizers and concluded with Naan, butter chicken and saag paneer. For the price and quality, the place is worth it. We also had an opportunity to meet the chef, Balbir, great personality.

Clay oven in West Portal is our go to if we're craving for authentic Indian food. Its close to my work so I'm always tempted to eat here. Our faves are Tikka Masala, Butter chicken, tandoori chicken and lamb and much more. The staff are nice and friendly. We even got complimentary dessert twice now. The price is reasonable. Love, love this place!
I ordered 4 items but I received 3 items instead of 4 items. And I called back when I saw my order wasn’t complete and the guy picked up the phone and I explained the situation but he was repeating the same 4 items that I order. And one of my order was garlic naan but it was all burned. It was around 4:17PM.Food: 2/5

The lamb vindaloo was delicious. Service was good, the Nam was not as flavorful as other places, but was cooked nicely. Quiet environment.
