There were 4 of us, (2 couples) and we asked for separate checks in the beginning and the waiter bluntly refused. He said he’d do “one check” and we have to split it. He was not accommodating at all nor was he making any effort. He was rude and not even apologetic. Also, Clay Oven is the ONLY restaurant in the USA that charges for REFILLS OF ICE TEA! No restaurant that we know of ever charges for REFILLS of tea or coffee. It’s poor customer relations and CHEAP and UnAmerican. Two or three wines that were requested in our group were not available. Despite the humdrum name that touches on every Indian restaurant cliche Clay Oven Tandoor Indian Grill serves exquisite food of great complexity that compares favorably with the creations I've enjoyed at some of India's finest restaurants! Do yourself a favor: set aside an evening with friends (or simply with a loved one) to experience culinary greatness, preferably on a less crowded weeknight. We had chicken tandoori, lamb vindaloo, nan bread, samosas, a bottle of Indian wine, and one other vegetarian dish (forgot the name). Everything was excellent from beginning to end. If you're looking for authentic Indian this is a great place to go to.

We had a great experience at ClayOven Tandoor Indian Grill Bar. Walk into great smells and a warm atmosphere. Service was great and food was outstanding. We'll be back and want to try some of the more saucy dishes. Reserva una mesa ahora

We've tried a variety of appetizers, breads and entrees the many times we have eaten at ClayOven Tandoor and all have been wonderful. The staff is very friendly and helpful without hovering over the table.

What a hidden gem! Great food and a nice family that runs it. Certainly worth making the drive from Lake Forest.
