I go to Coffee #1 Portswood everyday before work. My coffee has always been perfect, even when I make strange requests. Since COVID I have felt really safe entering the store, and the staff have put me and ease and made the experience as close to how it was prior. I usually go when Liam is working, and he always makes time to speak to every customer, while keeping up with demand and providing great service. Something else important to mention, is that I have personally witnessed numerous members of staff go over and above for customers with individual requirements or special needs, something which I don’t see in other coffee shops. After frequenting here virtually everyday for the last 11 months I cannot see a reason to get coffee anywhere else, I have witnessed the staff here greet regulars by first name, have drinks started as they come in, go above and beyond for customers of all abilities. The coffee itself is always made with that little extra love even when busy. Even during these uncertain times they still go out of their way to make the experience a pleasurable. Sara and Liam work tirelessly to provide the service we deserve and as a local business worker that service and coffee is the perfect kick start to my day. So why would you go anywhere else? I only managed to drink a quarter of my flat white because it was so bad. The coffee was overextracted, extremely bitter, and very acidic. When I lifted the cap off, I saw a disgusting black foam on top. It was a waste of good coffee, equipment, and money. I didn't complain or ask for another, but it definitely put me off coffee for the day. I won't be getting coffee here again. Maybe I'll try a panini next time, as I've heard they're quite good. To the area manager Dan , you are as much use as a chocolate teapot !!! Rob deserved the manager position at Portswood, but his face doesn’t fit for your liking. Get a grip! I suggest you look on Amazon for a book of how to treat others ,You have continuously lost all your good staff here, when will you be able to figure that out ? I look forward to you visiting the store next , if you can manage that more than twice a year that is.

Went into Coffee#1 in Portswood whilst in the area visiting family. First impressions were good and felt reassured by cleanliness and Covid safety measures. We received a lovely greeting from Liam who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and took the time to customise our order. Really enjoyed the coffee and the atmosphere and will look forward to returning

The women working at this restaurant make a good cup of coffee, but the men are always in a hurry even when it's not busy. I agree with the previous reviewer about the excessive face masks, they seem unnecessary and won't protect you from the Covid-19 virus. The location in Shirley is superior, in my opinion it has the best coffee in Southampton.

I have visited this branch everyday for a year now, the staff are unbelievably friendly and professional, the quality of the coffee is much better than any other local coffee place, and then to top of the quality with punctual and polite staff, it's the only place I want to buy my coffee. I asked for salted caramel but they said they weren't doing it anymore so the lovely man made me a concoction of salted pretzel and caramel and then let me try it to see if I liked it! It was delicious! Thank you so much :

All the staff I've interacted with here seem great but the nice man with glasses is always so attentive and lovely. I'm always pleased if he's working.
