I have been a loyal customer of Copperfields for a few years now, often visiting while in town to see a friend. We have always enjoyed the delicious meals and excellent service provided by the staff. However, during our most recent visit, we had a disappointing experience. Given the current high number of COVID cases, it is common to see staff wearing face masks while serving food at many establishments. Unfortunately, during this visit, we were served by a staff member who was clearly unwell and not wearing a mask. This made us feel uncomfortable and concerned about the potential spread of viruses. We recently stayed in North Shields for 3 nights and decided to dine at Copperfields, our favorite restaurant in the area. After a long drive from Dumbarton and craving a good Sunday roast, we couldn't imagine going anywhere else. And as always, Copperfields did not disappoint. The ambience was lovely, the food was great, just how we like it. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we returned 2 nights later and I ordered the same dish again. I highly recommend this restaurant. And a special thank you to the friendly young man who served us at the bar on both evenings, he was an absolute pleasure to chat with. It's always nice when staff take the time to interact with customers.
Called in on Thursday for a drink, before heading into the village, good service nice atmosphere great choice of beers, ciders spirits. Plans changed on Friday evening when the heavens opened so we visited again this time for drinks food, both of us opting for the fish chips, it took a while to arrive due to the volume of orders before us but my word it was worth waiting for, meal was piping hot, well presented tasted amazing, do note they stop serving at 8.45. The young barmaid was really efficient loved the way she put the drunken American back in his place, so politely done. Both she the pub are fabulous assets to the Grand Hotel
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, it’s like wearing your favourite cardigan!! Two visits over a three night midweek stay and I actually had the roasts on both occasions, while hubby sampled something else. The food was hot and delicious and the puddings mmmmmmmm It is our favourite place to eat if we’re in the area and we’ve never yet had anything we didn’t like, and the staff are attentive without being intrusive We’ll definitely return next time we visit and thoroughly recommend to anyone who wants to sample lovely food in a chilled homely atmosphere

Just arrived in Tynemouth and fancied a pint and some food. Fish and chips was really well priced and fantastic. Presentation was great and the beer was really good and one of the cheapest pints in town. Lovely place.
We arrived at the Grand hotel after a long journey and didn’t want to venture far. Really nice atmosphere in the bar, friendly service, good selection of beer (including non alcoholic options) and tasty food.
We had a fantastic Sunday roast at this restaurant with my family. Although it was a bit on the expensive side for pub food, the service was excellent and they welcomed our dog.
Very disappointing quality, the most unusual beef sandwich, not sure if processed beef but zero flavour, chips and salad very good. Clean, well presented and excellent service.

I have to say, the young lad Josh behind the bar is a credit to the place. Great humour, friendliness and all round service. Always makes us welcome.
