A lot of people think of This cafe as an iconic stop for Newtown urban lifestyle ..rather relaxed, bohemian Unfortunately today I was proven the opposite . I stopped by for breakfast this morning. ( Monday 2nd January 2017) with a friend of mine . Just walking distance from home , you just expect to relax with a cup of coffee and good food on a public holiday . We sat outside , our order was talking , food was alright . As we enter the cafe to cue to pay for our bill. We experienced the lowest and most insulting treat from our own. waitress. At the cashier , stressed and angry at everyone . It was misplaced and insulting the way she approached us , proving us wrong on where we were siting ,...
Great hours with it being open till midnight. Perfect for students (like myself) who do like to study at cafes!
However.. terrible service and not clean. The first time I went, I was ignored and then went up to the counter to grab my own menu. The waitress who served me was quite rude as well and didn't even give me a smile? I mean it's not necessary, but it would be nice. While I ordered and began to work, I noticed many flies and small insects (inside the cabinet where the food is too.. - but quite common to be honest..). The thing which really put me off was the mini cockroach which crawled on the table.. I couldn't even stand sitting there anymore..
I ended up grabbing only the vegan...

Good service and place IF you're WHITE/Caucasian. If you're not, good luck. I've been here twice and on both occasions, the guy behind the counter (not the owner) was extremely disinterested in serving me or advising me. On the flipside, the dude was very friendly, helpful and even gave table service to the people HE felt were WORTH it. I observed this multiple times while I was having my meal.

We stopped by here for a coffee as one of the few places open later in the evening that will just serve coffee as most coffee shops shut by later afternoon or only restaurants serving meals. It is located on King Street. Service is fairly friendly.
Went with a Chai Latte and Latte. They tasted fine but wish it was hotter in temperature.
Very ordinary food with poor service. Coffee quite good although orders were all mixed up. Would not be back purely based on how filthy the cafe is. Even our menus were appalling, with caked on food and all torn. Reading it was very difficult! Am surprised they haven't had food safety breathing down their neck.
I don't think this place will win any awards for decor. It looked a bit warn inside and out but offered a more peaceful setting than most of the other cafes in Newtown, and did a great pot of tea. 2mins walk from the train station.
Was my local cafe from 1999 to 2010. Amazing breakfasts. Yummy desserts & generous serves for main meals. Very trendy & retro. Sat here for ages just watching the world go by.

Great food and coffee. Service is pretty bad and the atmosphere definitely doesnt help. If they renovated and hired better staff, it'd be a 5.
Buen café, ricos pasteles para acompañar. La cafetería es de las pocas del barrio que sigue abierta después de las 5 pm.
