Location! Location! Tucked away in the Dulwich suburbs, this gorgeous café could be easily missed if you didn’t know it existed. Popped in for afternoon coffee, something sweet and a read of their menu before I return for breakfast soon. Ushered to a table quickly by a friendly waitress, menu, bottled water and glass placed on the table promptly, I made my way to the sweeties fridge to see what was available, not much actually. Only a few items left and 80% of them were gluten free. I chose the lemon curd tart, pretty run of the mill. Coffee was a little bitter for my taste. We met with friends for lunch after church and sat down at a table near the wall looking out the window. The place is small and has a friendly feel. I don't think they have a wine list so I started with a double shot latté which was quite good. After some deliberation I decided to have their chicken and chorizo sausage salad. My wife had their big breakfast (see photos). My salad was really nice and the leaves were fresh and dressed with a nice light oil. The breakfast looked really nice and the poached eggs appeared perfect. We had enough space for dessert so I had this lemon meringue in a tall cylindrical format. This was nice too.Bottom line: If I actually lived near here I would be tempt...
After being seated the waitress said she would return with menus and water. She returned with menus and no water. Apologised, took our coffee order and promised to return with water. 15 mins passed and coffees eventually came and we placed our food order. After waiting 25 mins for a simple breakfast order I went to ask staff what was going on. They apologised and said they had not started it. We never saw the water, and were still charged the measly $8.00 for the coffee. I paid but won't hurry back. I would hate to think how long you might wait if they were busy.Disappointed.
I have been to this café twice before and meals were good. Yesterday I had lunch there and ordered the caesar salad with chicken (have had before). The business seems to have changed hands and croutons in the salad were huge blocks of stale bread, quite revolting. The cook needs to crisp them up in the oven to refresh them if they have gone stale...such an easy solution, which would have made the meal so much better. We visited for lunch a couple of times while staying in Adelaide for work. The food was delicious - I particularly recommend the sweetcorn and zucchini fritters - and really well presented. There is a cute little courtyard area where you can sit outside, yet still in the shade, as well as seats inside the cafe, and some tables just outside on the street. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and overall we really enjoyed both our visits.
On a beautiful autumn March day, I enjoyed a delicious lunch with my friend at the Corner Store Cafe. My review is short as there is only so many times that I can reiterate, how delicious the food was. Lovely, warm, friendly service. Great quiet location in the back streets where you can sit outside or in. All I can say is yum, delicious, scrumptious, heavenly...I definitely will be visiting again.
House made juices, ok coffee, healthy food with good choices like house made beans. Great dining options year round indoor, outdoor or undercover courtyard. Despite some issues with the staff who serve you (try and place your order with the owners as they are very switched on)
