"The square is lovely and there was a lovely singer so we are here. The food wasn't bad but wasn't brilliant either with a load of chips, no salad or vegetables."

Reading the other reviews I initially thought I must have a different restaurant. Yes, it is very busy and potentially a long wait for food. However, looking at all the empty seats at the tables of other restaurants in the square I concluded that the Cote Marche must be busy because of its popularity especially with local clientele. The waitress suggested we come back in 20 minutes until a table was available. When ready the service was excellent despite our limited French and their limited English. We were made to feel welcome and they were friendly and attentive in making sure we had everything we needed and understood the menu options. The food was exceptionally good and well presented and great value. There are specials each day and we had a steak, french fries with salad for 12.50 Euro. The presentation was very nice and the food delicious. For the cost (relative to Fracne prices) the food was outstanding. Overall it was a relaxing meal in a beautiful square. It was the best restaurant experience of our three week trip through France.

Poor local wine, although priced as quality.Starters: Chef's choice!? Thick sliced tasteless jambon. Dry paté from uncertain origin. Endless waiting for some bread.Main course: Although noted by the patron for medium pièce d'agneau, it came dry, overdone, while it should be standard rosé, without asking. The locale dish agilot was rubber and lacked any taste of the basic ingredients as cheese and garlic. The cheese offered for dessert...a disgrace for what France is famous for.Not any comment from waiters for returning an almost full plate.Upon return in our hotel we paid the bill again by frequenting our bathroom.Yuck!!! Avoid is our advice, being frequent international travellers.

We had the 18.50 menu and it was sensational...the meats were perfect and the mussels the best I've ever tasted. The Millau red wine complimented the fromages for dessert. Our children (10 and 13) had the menu for 9 euros and was also great value and fantastic. The witty and charming waiter just added to the evening. We will certainly return and I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough.

This is an excellent restaurant for good local simple food. The Formula set menus are good value and definitely deliver with good quality and variety. Highly reccomended.
