We have just returned from a trip to Southern Brittany and had the pleasure of having lunch at La Belle Epoque. It's an unassuming Creperie on Rue St James in La Roche Bernard, in fact we had driven past it on a number of occasions...without evening noticing it. We were warmly greeted by the owner in French but when he realised we had very little French he switched to English (which is always good when you don't speak the native tongue). The Menu is comprehensive with Galettes ,Crepes and Pastas on offer. I went for Morbhianaise, a Gallete with Scallops ,Leeks and a Cider Sauce and I can safely say it was the tastiest I have ever had, My Wife went for the Spaghetti Bolognaise which was fresh...

From the proprietor's warm welcome to the last sip of coffee, everything was perfect at this popular creperie. I opted for the menu at 10.50 Euros (galette, crepe and a cup of cider), while my husband enjoyed a salad of sliced duck breast, chopped chicken,...and walnuts. For dessert, try a breton specialty: a crepe with warm caramel sauce--delicious! It's a small place, and was filled with locals enjoying a mid-week lunch, so reservations are a good idea.

that is a place where they come back. la Roche-Bernard is a great stop point, in the middle of nantes and brest, right on the main road. park them for free near the church, go less than 5 minutes and find them a warm multilingual greeting in la belle Epoque....We had crêpes here, but last time it was a perfectly good omelett and an salad. the month was perfect with my omelet and pommes. owner is a model of a welcoming host.

Had a couple of trips here. The first was dinner when we had great moules frite and then crepes. The second time was for lunch and we had galletes. Owner is very friendly and chatty in spite of limited English (and our small amount of...French). Quite small so a little bit of a wait on the second occasion but nothing unreasonable. we were a lot of time for creampery and always on the market day, which makes fun as we watch people, that we try to eat always outside. eating is beautiful, and the fillings are very diverse. desserts should die, and I love. the fact that we can drink in the traditional art of tassen more, so fun.

Very helpful proprietor who found us a table despite no booking. Most of the tables had reserved notices on them. Popular place which majors on Breton Galettes but it has other offerings like steak, salads and of course Les Moules which were excellent. Well worth...a visit and good value as well.
